Learn about the Trail June 14 – 18 in the History Village during Baltimore’s Sailabration event.
The National Park Service will join trail partners in the Sailabration History Village at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Star-Spangled Sailabration, June 13-19, is an international parade of more than 40 tall ships and naval vessels. These ships sail into Baltimore for the national launch of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the writing of the Star-Spangled Banner. Star-Spangled Sailabration will feature free tours of the ships, waterside festivities, an airshow featuring the Blue Angels, and the world-premiere of “Overture for 2012,” composed by Philip Glass. The History Village will be open from Thursday June 14 through Monday June 18 with activities for families including an interactive game “Cast Your Vote”, geocaching demonstrations, and costumed interpreters. Trail partners from the Upper Bay region, the Eastern Shore, Washington, DC and Prince George’s County, Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Annapolis, and Southern Maryland will be on hand to show visitors where to go, what to see, and how to have a great time on the trail.
