Things To Do > Become a Junior Ranger

Begin your explorations at your computer and earn a Junior Ranger Badge! Program available for ages 6 through 12.

As a Junior Ranger you will learn about The War of 1812, the 1814 Chesapeake Campaign, the National Anthem, and the people and places that are part of the story of the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail.

Plus, you’ll earn a special badge to show that you are an official Junior Ranger for the Star-Spangled Banner Trail.

Here's how:

  1. Download the Junior Ranger activity book
  2. Read the instructions in the introduction.
  3. Take a "virtual tour" of this website. You'll find all the information you need to become a Junior Ranger.
  4. Complete the activity pages for your age group.
  5. Send the completed pages and your signed Junior Ranger Pledge to:

Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail
Junior Ranger Program
P.O. Box 374
Yorktown, VA 23690

A park ranger will review your work. If you've done a good job learning about the trail, the ranger will mail you a badge and certify you as an official Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail Junior Ranger.

You'll find other games and activities for kids in our Kid's section. But the most fun you’ll have is getting out on the trail and having your own adventures!
